BY DAY IN THE PILAR OF CLOUD, BY NIGHT IN PILAR OF FIRE
Exodus 13: 17-22
From verse 1 to 16 of chapter 13 tell us a lot: the people of Israel should not be ungrateful, they must lead a grateful life. God says to remember the grace and set apart the firstborn of cattle and men to consecrate to the Lord who saved Israel with a mighty hand. God said that they must also remember that God delivered the people from the bondage of Pharaoh to bring them to the country flowing with milk and honey, write it and wear it like frontlet between your eyes. How easy it is to forget the grace and how grateful lead the life to something very fertile.
1) Israel dug the earth and brought Joseph's bones
When Israel went out of Egypt, they carried Joseph's bones by the oath he had sworn before his death (Gen. 50: 25). Although Joseph was the first minister, his hope was still in the land God had promised.
2) By day in a pillar of cloud by night in a pillar of fire
After living 450 years in slavery, when Israel crossed the desert, how did the Lord accompany them? God went before them by day in a pillar of cloud by night in a pillar of fire. When we walk in faith, God never abandons us but is always with us.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for what you have saved us by the blood of Jesus, help us to be always grateful to you by offering best things. When we follow you with gratitude, accompany us always.
One Word: Do not be ungrateful
