THE LORD TRAINED HIS PEOPLE TO OBSERVE THE SABBATH
Ex 16: 22-36
The principle of man's happiness is to work diligently for six days and rest on the seventh day. But there are men full of greed, working all the time, even by violating the sabbath day, unto be tired to death. Let's think how God trained his people to observe the Sabbath.
1) The Lord gave the permission on the Sabbath (22-26)
The observance of the Sabbath (20: 8-11) is the fourth commandment of the LORD. The people of God who fears the LORD shall rest on the seventh day. According to its original meaning, the Sabbath means:
1) rest from the affairs of the Net!
2) render service to God, and renew contaminated wounded soul
3) read spiritual books and renew the spirit and visit those who need the Lord to renew the spirit to each other
2) The Lord rebuke those who were stupid
Some, in spite of this commandment, sought food on the seventh day, but in vain. God called to Moses and reproached him. Do you have the soul renewing itself by giving up lust ? Read v 31 and 37. What name was given to food coming down from heaven and what is its meaning? (32).
Prayer: Lord, help us to abandon our greed so that we really rest on the Sabbath. Help us to renew our souls mutually
One Word: the Sabbath in honor of the Lord
