The True family of Jesus
Key Verse 3: 35The family is a closest link in the human affair. But Jesus wants to rectify the notion of family that may be wrong.
1. Who is my mother and who are my brothers? (31-33)
The family of Jesus seemed to come to see Jesus for bringing him back to the good spirit, because a number of relatives said he had gone mad. He did not observe the family obligation, but he was totally absorbed in the work of God. They wanted to bring him back to the good spirit and bring home to be a family support after the departure of his father Joseph as a carpenter. The crowd seeing the family coming, wanted to introduce him to Jesus. Jesus was very busy teaching the word of God. People have a human conception of the family and the traditional family custom of the Jews. But Jesus wants to revolutionize the concept.
2. Whoever does the will of God (34-35)
Jesus establishes a new family concept based entirely on the spiritual criterion. When Jesus looked around the crowd, it was often when he was angry that people were acting contrary to his will. At this time, he was looking around because he wanted to change the conventional concept of the family, correcting their mistake. They were ignorant. Jesus asked the question "who is my family? Jesus concludes that his family is not according to carnal belonging, but according to the will of each one in relation to God. If anyone wants to live in obedience by doing the work of God, this one belongs to the family of God. It is the sense of being followers. It is also a promise given by Jesus to all who want to conform themselves to the will of God in their lives. For that, they must be detached from the will of the man and the value of the world.
